Seized Tightening Knob


The knob that is used to lock the umbrella in a tilt position can be turned in the "tighten" and "loosen" direction (as indicated by the arrows on the knob)


99% of cases reporting a seized knob are resolved by unlocking the knob that has been over-tightened in the loosen direction.

The first thing to check is:
Can the slider car be moved up and down the mast of the umbrella? If it can then this confirms that it is over-tightened in the "loosen" direction (because the slider car is not prevented from moving by the knob).
If that is the case then use maximum strength to turn in the tighten direction to unlock it (or a tool like a pipe-wrench could be used).
