Removing the internal gear of an Eclipse version 1 or Aurora
1. The internal gear is pictured below; the Aurora gear is slightly smaller but is assembled the same way.
2. To remove the internal gear, first detach the black Winder Housing #31 by removing the four bolts. Be careful
not to loose the two small springs, metal clicker and the plastic spacer found under the springs. These items are
usually found under a small piece of tape to hold them in place.
3. Once the outer winder housing has been removed you will find the head of the Gear Spindle, to release it use
a ruler to protect the Mast #27 and pry off the black button on the reverse side with a flat head screwdriver.
4. You will find a small hex bolt behind the black button, this bolt has been applied with Loctite so take care not
to ruin the head. If you can't shift it, stop and use a hot air gun or hairdryer to heat the bolt to soften the Loctite
and break the bond. Using the handle on the opposite side can aid in removing this bolt.
Once you have removed the small bolt place a screwdriver in the hole and push out the Gear, the screwdriver
will keep the internal Winder Drum #32 from moving.
5. To replace the original Gear follow the instructions in reverse. It is recommended to reapply Loctite to all the bolts
upon assembly. These bolts are subjected to vibration and movement due to the winding action and can loosen over
time if Loctite or a similar medium strength locking product is not applied.
