Eclipse V1 - Repairing Eclipse Tilt Pin

Repairing Eclipse Tilt Pin

Diagnosis:
Look under the slider car and locate the tilt pin, if the end
of the pin appears broken, misshapen or is missing, it needs
to be replaced.

Procedure:
      1. Remove the umbrella from the spigot and lie it down
horizontally on a work surface such as a trestle table
covered with carpet or similar soft material (to prevent scratching).

      2. Remover the mast cap screw and remove the mast cap.

      3. Remove the screws that secure the top bracket.
They may be secured with "Loctite" - if they are difficult
to unscrew you may need to apply heat with a heat gun to release.

      4. Collect all screws, nuts, bolts etc in the mast cap so
      you don't lose them.

      5. Remove top stay from the top bracket. The plastic spacers either
side of the top stay will also come off.

      6. Remove the top bracket by undoing the 3 bolts that hold it in place.

      7. Slide the top bracket out the top of the mast.

      8. Unscrew the mast wall pulley mechanism and take out the
      pulley from the mast.

      9. Unscrew the P-fitting bracket.

      10. Remove the slider car stop.

      11. Attach a rope to the P-fitting to make it easier to retrieve from
      inside the mast later

      12. Slide the slider car stop out of the mast keeping the wire on side.

      13. Slide the slider car out of the slider car, keeping the cable straight so it
doesn't get stuck behind the slider car.

      14. You will now have access to the tilt pin
("Slider car wing shaped inclination stop pin").

      15. You will now be able to remove the tilt pin and insert the replacement
one. Secure with the small pin at the tip.

      16. Insert the slider car stop first.

      17. Slide the mast slowly back into the slider car, taking care when
passing over the "Eclipse" adhesive sticker.
When sliding both parts back in, make sure the cable is running
  along the groove/channel.

  18. Re-attach the mast wall pulley followed by the P-fitting.
Make sure it is aligned straight with the mast.

19. Slide the top bracket into the mast, securing the bolts with Loctite.

 20. Re-insert the top stay and spacers back in the top bracket and
 bolt in place.

 21. Re-attach the mast cap.

 22. Erect the umbrella on the spigot and test.
