Paraflex Button Replacement Instructions

The first step to replace the button of the Central Tube “Part I” is to remove the fabric canopy. This can be
archived by removing the Top Lid “Part A1” with a 6mm alan key to release the fabric from the Top Hub “Parts
A2 & A3”. Then remove each Arm “Part G” from the canopy arm pockets.

Now locate and remove the small Phillips head screw holding the Central Tube “Part I” to the bottom half of
the Top Hub “Part A3”. This will allow you to remove the Central Tube.

The next step you will need to find a tool to push out both the Tube End Cap “Part J” and the button. The tool
will need to be rigid, a fraction longer than the Central Tube and no larger than 8mm in diameter. Insert the
tool into the Central Tube, bypass the button and gently tap and remove the Tube End Cap. Then if you have
an existing or broken button, push it out of the Central Tube with the long tool.

NB: Be careful not to lose the washer located on the button as you push the button spring out of the Central
Tube. When the button emerges from the tube it is spring loaded and it will launch the washer across the
room. The washer could also be inside the End Cap or tube if the original button is broken in some way.

Alternatively you may be able to carefully use a sharp blade to insert between the end of the Central Tube and
the Tube End Cap and pry the two parts apart enough to get a grip on the End Cap. Be careful not to slice too
deeply with the blade and damage the Tube End Cap. Then you could shape a coat hanger with a smaller hook
made on the end to remove the button.

Now you can install the new button and washer. If using the long tool method place the button into the
Central Tube with the button inline with the hole at the opposite end and push it up the length of the Tube
until it snaps into place. If the button is working correctly press the Tube End Cap “Part J” back into position.

If using the coat hanger method push the button downwards, the way it came out of the tube with a object
similar to a broom stick until it snaps into its hole in the Central Tube.
