Spiderwebs
Dust
Dirt buildup
Once dry, use mineral turpentine on a
clean rag to clean all aluminium components, including Mast #27.
To “refresh” the look of black plastic
components:
First clean with mineral turpentine
Then lightly wipe with WD-40 on a rag
Do not spray directly onto the umbrella
Monthly Maintenance
Rotation Mechanism Inspection
Inspect the base of the rotation mechanism (#35 assembly),
particularly if the umbrella is installed:
o In
a garden bed
o Near
soil, mulch, or sand
⚠ Important – Spider Warning
Spiders may nest under the rotation handle near the top of the mast. If insects
or spiders are present:
o Use
a suitable insect surface spray
o Take
appropriate personal safety precautions
Cleaning the Rotation
Assembly
Use a high-pressure
hose to clean:
o Base
of the umbrella mast
o Rotation
mechanism area
Exercising the Rotation
With the umbrella closed:
o Lift
the rotation handle
o Rotate
the umbrella at least 180° (or
as far as the installation allows)
o Repeat
two to three times
If the umbrella is located near a children’s
sand pit, rotation assembly cleaning should be performed
more frequently. More intensive cleaning
can be carried out by lifting the umbrella off the spigot and cleaning inside
the mast and rotation mechanism. Refer
this guide for more info.
Six-Monthly Maintenance
Mechanical Inspection
Perform all general cleaning steps above.
Visually inspect the following Barrel Bolts (#17):
o Main
Arm #14
o Top
Stay #18
o Bottom
Stay #21
Check for:
o Loose
bolts
o Missing
washers
Struts & Strops
Inspect Small
Strop #3:
o Check
rivets
o Check
knurled pin securing the Struts #5
o If
the knurled pin is not centred, tap lightly with a hammer
Inspect Large
Strops #16 and confirm all securing rivets are intact.
Fabric Cleaning & Care
On a sunny
day when the umbrella will be used:
o Hose
down the canopy using medium pressure or
a wide spray
o Focus
on areas with bird droppings, dirt, or solid matter
Allow the fabric to fully air-dry
Do not
apply the cover or store the umbrella while the canopy is damp.
Do not leave the umbrella unattended while wet.
Always ensure the canopy is completely dry
before covering or storing, to prevent mould and fabric damage
Lubrication
Apply silicone
spray to all moving joints that use Barrel Bolts (#17).
Spray the black
or white pivoting disc between joint components.
Disassembly
is not required.
Wipe away any excess lubricant after
application.
Additional Best Practices
Use a full-length
protective cover whenever the umbrella is not in use.
Close the umbrella in strong winds or adverse
weather.
Increase cleaning frequency in coastal, dusty,
or garden environments.
Regular maintenance helps prevent premature wear
and costly repairs.
