This article applies to the following models:
Eclipse V1
Eclipse V2
Aurora V1
Aurora V2
Note:
The same general principle can also be applied to Eclipse V4.0; however, the parts and component layout differ slightly. Refer to the Eclipse 4.0–specific documentation if part identification is required.
If your Eclipse or Aurora umbrella is not locking into position when rotating, or the nylon (Acetal) rotation plate is not spinning, this is most commonly caused by dirt, debris, or misalignment around the spigot and rotation mechanism.
In most cases, this issue can be resolved by cleaning the components and correctly realigning the umbrella.
Two people (required for safe lifting)
Leaf blower or air gun (recommended)
Clean cloth
Optional: light grease or spray lubricant
This step requires two people.
One person removes the lift-off locking pin (#37 Lift-off Pin).
The second person lifts the umbrella vertically upward and off the spigot.
Do not tilt the umbrella during removal.
Tip: Refer to your model’s parts diagram for the exact location of the lift-off pin.
Lay the umbrella horizontally on a trestle table or similar support.
Clean the bottom of the mast and the internal rotation mechanism.
Use a leaf blower or air gun to remove:
Dirt
Cobwebs
Leaves or other debris
Debris in this area is a common cause of rotation failure.
Inspect the spigot.
Remove the Acetal ring (#34) to expose the rotation holes.
Thoroughly clean all holes.
Refit the Acetal ring once cleaning is complete.
Check the spigot for signs of rust or corrosion.
Treat any rust as required.
Apply a small amount of grease or spray lubricant around the lower section of the spigot to assist smooth rotation.
Do not over-apply lubricant.
Ensure the arrow on the Acetal ring is facing the direction where the FRONT of the umbrella will be positioned.
Carefully lower the umbrella onto the spigot.
Align the front of the umbrella with the Acetal ring arrow.
When correctly aligned, you should hear an audible “click” as the umbrella locates into position.
Rotate the umbrella through its available positions.
The umbrella should now rotate and lock correctly.
