Eclipse v4 Important Tips for Using the Winder Handle Correctly
To ensure smooth and reliable operation of your Eclipse v4 umbrella, it’s important that the winder handle is inserted fully before opening or closing the canopy. If the handle isn’t pushed in fully, the mechanism may not engage correctly, which can cause the hex section to twist. The guide below shows the correct method for use.
What Causes the Handle to Twist?
The Eclipse v4 handle includes a spring-ball locking mechanism inside the crank axle. This design ensures the handle stays securely in place during operation.
However, if the handle isn’t pushed fully into the winder before you start opening or closing the umbrella, the hex axle may only partially engage. When force is applied in this position, the torque can cause the hex section to twist at the point where the spring ball is installed.
This damage can occur if:
The handle is not inserted all the way in, or
Excessive force is used to try to engage the mechanism.

How to Prevent Handle Damage
To avoid twisting or damage, please follow these simple steps every time you operate your umbrella:
Insert the handle fully
Push the crank handle all the way into the winder until you feel it click into place.
This ensures the axle is fully seated and locked.
Do not over-tighten or force the mechanism
Once the umbrella is fully open or closed, stop winding.
Continuing to crank past the natural stop point can put unnecessary stress on the mechanism.
If the handle doesn’t feel secure, stop immediately
Remove and reinsert it to ensure proper engagement before applying pressure.
How Do I Know It's Fully Inserted?
You should feel a firm click when the spring ball locks in.
There should be minimal movement or looseness between the handle and mast.
The handle should rotate smoothly with minimal effort.
