Eclipse V1 - Slider Car Shield Installation

Slider Car Shield Installation

1. First neatly fold the Canopy and use the strap to keep it closed. Lay your umbrella on its side on a pair of saw horses or a table and start by removing the Mast Cap #23 and the Top Stay #18 from the Top Bracket #22 as pictured.

2. Remove the Top Bracket #22, the Mast Wall Pulley #24 and the "P" Fitting #25. Tie a temporary rope to the end of the "P" Fitting to prevent losing it down the Mast #27. The Mast Wall Pulley #24 will remain attached to the Cable.

3. Remove the plastic Sliding Spacer Block and the Stop found inside the Mast track by sliding them both to the top of the Mast #27.

4. Now the Mast #27 will be clear of all components, scoop out the Cable so it is loose as pictured to prevent it getting caught in the next step. Slide the Mast slowly downwards taking extra care past the stickers to avoid catching them and ripping them off.

5. Once past the stickers keep going until the Mast #27 is totally removed from the Slider Car #19 revealing the internal end of the Slider Car Inclination Stop Pin #20.

6. Place the new Slider Car Shield over the end of the Slider Car Inclination Stop pin #20 and lightly tap around the edges with a hammer to push it into position. Using the hole in the Slider Car Shield as a guide drill a 3mm hole all the way through the block below until you see the Slider Car Inclination Stop Pin #20 move slightly. Use a cloth under the drill to catch the aluminium shavings to prevent them from falling into the white sliders of the Slider Car #19. Blow out any shavings if necessary afterwards.

7. Using the supplied self-tapping screw fix the Slider Car Shield into position then test the rotation and function of  tthe Slider Care Inclination Stop Pin #20.

8. Now reassemble all the components, start by inserting the Mast #27 into the Slider Car #19 taking care again past the stickers. It is important to retrace the previous steps in order, therefore next would be the plastic Stop, then the sliding Spacer Block, then the Mast Wall Pulley #24.

9. Before you reattach the "P" Fitting #25 check the Cable travels directly down to the top Swivel Pulley #26 then back up to the "P" Fitting #25 anchor point without any twists. Reattach the Top Bracket #22 by sliding it back onto the Mast #27 slightly loose.

10. To find the correct position for the Top Bracket #22, replace the Mast Cap #23 on the Mast #27 then slide the Top Bracket to the underside of the Mast Cap edge and secure. Then reattach the Top Stay #18.

11. It is a good idea to remove the Mast Cap #23 again and run through a cycle of opening and closing once back on the Spigot #33 standing upright. When open look down the Mast #27 and check the Cable is still running down the Mast to the Swivel Pulleys #26 without twists. Close the umbrella and check once more, if still in the correct position replace the Mast Cap and you have completed the modification.
